The School Laboratory Refit Season

 

The sun is shining (sort of), Wimbeldon has finished and the schools have just closed – it can only mean one thing…..

…..The school laboratory refit season is upon us! This is the time of year where laboratory furniture manufacturers are in full swing and where our lab taps are being installed ready for the new school year. This is also the time of year where we receive plenty of calls about which products to use and which are compatible etc.

 

We’ve been doing this year in year out since 1997 so we know the trends, we know what our customers want and most importantly we have the technical skills to back it up, so whatever you come across laboratory wise the chances are we’ve seen it before!

 

As a quick guide to which components are generally used in the laboratory please read on:

 

Laboratory Water Taps

The laboratory water generally comes in three styles and can be configured for hot or cold water usage

The Pillar Bib Tap – have a look at the 900121

The Swan neck or Gooseneck Laboratory tap. This is probably the most popular styles out there. The swan neck (gooseneck) can be fixed into place (ideal for the school lab!) or the neck can be moveable or sometimes referred to as being able to ‘swing’. Please have a look at the 902103.

 

Laboratory Mixer Taps

These come in two designs. The monobloc mixer tap and the ‘H’ pattern or sometimes called a bridge mixer are the style we offer. The 900115 monobloc mixer and the 900078 are the most popular models as they come with an aerator nozzle which help reduce the splash back from the sink.

All our lab water taps carry a five year warranty and WRAS certification.

 

Laboratory Gas Taps

Drop lever laboratory gas taps are our speciality – the drop lever design has stood the the test of time. They are robust and last, whats more is that the drop lever acts as a visual indicator to the teaching staff so they can easily identify whether a tap has been left in the on position in the laboratory. We have four models that our consistently popular and you can find them all over the world!

Like the water taps, our laboratory gas taps come with a five year warranty along with the prestigious BSI British Gas accreditation.

 

Ceramic Sinks

The taps don’t just make a laboratory. You also have ceramic sinks. We also offer highly durable, stain resistant, odour resistant and impact resistant Belfast and Larch / laboratory style sinks in a variety of sizes to cater for all your requirements.

 

Vulcathene Chemical Drainage System

No fit out is complete without talking the heavy weight, world champion leading laboratory chemical drainage ecosystem which is Vulcathene. Vulcathene is the world leading lab drainage product and has a CV longer than a Bob Beaman long jump (an Olympics reference!). They typical products for refits are listed below, but of course these can change and depending on the original installer you can be thrown some challenges. Pedestal Boxes

Look to house electric points, data points and or USB ports? We have four styles of pedestal box to suit your needs. We use the same RAL code as our taps so they match and they look the business. They have predrilled holes and an earthing point which will save you time on site as you don’t have to punch them out.
